The Red Ring Of Death ?
Basically this is caused through poor design and overheating within the console
excessive gaming doesn't help but that's what the 360 is made for, right?
Microsoft decided to have two X-clamps fitted on the back of the motherboard
These X-clamps hold both heatsinks tightly on the gpu & cpu.
Unfortunately they get extremely hot and expand causing the motherboard to warp or bend ever so slightly
this makes the 360 automatically think theres a hardware problem and this results in the 3 red lights.
Online Quick-fix Guides
There are a number of online quick-fix guides and books available to buy,
which in my opinion don't offer alot of help
If your not experienced with working within computers
these guides are incredibly confusing and can cause more damage than help
Some of these guides cost around £10 to £20 and then you still got to buy the tools and do the repair
So why not let me do the hard work and you will be back doing your Halo thing in no time!!
Known Temporary Fixes:
The Penny Trick
I have tried this once and it failed miserably
The logic behind this is that the pennies are wrapped
in electrical tape so that they conduct heat from the ram chips more effectively.
Although this doesn't do any damage to the console it's pretty much a waste of time.
Known Temporary Fixes:
The Towel Trick
This is a solution that is rumoured to work
I've never tried it and wouldn't even consider it
Majority of people use this whilst under warranty
knowing they will be receiving a brand new 360
But if your not under warranty and want your 360 to work
I advise you not to do this fix
All this does is cook all your components within the console
This results in your console becoming unplayable
It causes pixelation errors, graphic and texture issues
